You can use canned salmon, but fresh salmon produces much juicier salmon cakes, and they taste significantly better too.
Ingredients to Make Cakes
- salmon
- white-fleshed fish, (cod, haddock, pollock, halibut, flounder)
- large potatoes
- onion
- egg
- parsley
- bread crumbs, for coating
- olive oil
- salt
- pepper
- garlic powder
How to Make Fish Cakes
Cut the salmon, white-flashed fish, potatoes, and onion into small chunks.
Place all ingredients into a meat grinder or food processor and grind well.
Place the mixture in a large bowl, add parsley, egg, salt, garlic powder, pepper, and mix everything.
Form the mixture into 12 equal patties and roll them in the bread crumbs.
Heat some oil in a non-stick pan and fry the patties on each side for 3-4 minutes until lightly browned.
TIPS FOR MAKING THESE EASY FISH CAKES
You can use any type of fish for this recipe, I used salmon and cod.
You can also use mashed potatoes for this recipe.
These Fish Cakes are freezer friendly.
This recipe makes approximately 12 crispy fish cakes, however, you can make more or less if you prefer them to be bigger or smaller.
