- all-purpose flour
- baking powder
- salt
- ground cinnamon
- unsalted butter, softened
- granulated sugar
- brown sugar, packed
- eggs
- sour cream
- apples
How to Make Apple Cake
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour a baking pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the sour cream. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Gently fold in the chopped apples.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Arrange the apple slices on top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once the cake has cooled, you can optionally dust it with powdered sugar or frost it with cream cheese frosting for added sweetness.
