Roasted Pears with Blue Cheese

 One of my favorite elegant appetizers to make for holiday evenings is roasted pears with blue cheese. It's a simple snack to enjoy with a glass of white wine.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 pears
  • ½ cup blue cheese
  • ¼ cup butter

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Slice the pears in half lengthwise.
  3. Remove the core and seeds from each pear with a small sharp paring knife or melon baller, leaving a round well for the filling.
  4. Trim off a small slice from the rounded sides of each pear half so that they will sit in the baking dish without wobbling.
  5. Arrange the pears, core side up, in a baking dish large enough to hold them.
  6. Flip over the pear, put a piece of butter, and crumble the blue cheese into the cavity left by the core.
  7. Roast in an oven, at 375°F, for 20 minutes.
    This can be served either hot or in at room temperature!
