Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion peeled and finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic peeled and minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 canned chopped tomatoes
  • 10 oz dried spaghetti
  • salt and black pepper to tasty

To serve

  • parsley
  • grated parmesan

Instructions

  • To start, heat up some oil in a frying pan on medium-high heat. Toss in the onion and stir occasionally for 5 minutes or until the onion softens. After that, add in the garlic and continue cooking for another minute.
  • Start by adding the ground beef to the pan and let it cook for about 5-6 minutes until it turns brown. Make sure to stir frequently and use a spatula to break up any large chunks of meat.
  • Heat the mixture until it reaches boiling point, then allow it to simmer vigorously for 2-3 minutes until the volume reduces by three-quarters.
  • Include the oregano, thyme, and canned tomatoes, and season with salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly and heat until the mixture comes to a boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for around 15-20 minutes or until it thickens.
  • As the water boils in a large pot, add a pinch of salt and the spaghetti. Allow it to cook for 10-12 minutes until it reaches the perfect al dente texture.
  • Separate the spaghetti into 4 portions and strain itbefore placing it into individual bowls.
  • Place the bolognese sauce over the spaghetti and add the chopped parsley and parmesan cheese as a final touch before serving.
